ABB FIA Formula E Racing Series Returning to Portland in 2024
The 16-race all-electric, open-wheel race series will debut in Shanghai, China and Tokyo. The ABB FIA Formula E all-electric open-wheel racing series is set to return to Portland, Oregon, in 2024, replacing Brooklyn on the schedule in 2023. The return will see races in Shanghai, China, and the streets of Tokyo return to Hyderabad, India, marking the series's only major racing series in three major countries with the largest population. The remaining 16 races will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, and Jakarta, Indonesia. Jakarta's race, originally scheduled for June 8, is now off due to logistical issues. The schedule is also being considered for the April 13-14 weekend in Italy.

The ABB FIA Formula E all-electric open-wheel racing series is returning to Portland, Oregon, in 2024.
The series revealed the schedule for its 10th season today.
Portland, which replaced Brooklyn on the schedule in 2023, returns for a second year to host the lone Formula E race in the United States.
New on the schedule for 2024 at races in Shanghai, China, and the streets of Tokyo. Formula E will also return to Hyderabad, India, to give the series the distinction of being the lone major racing series to race in the three countries with the largest population—China, India and the U.S. The race in Shanghai marks the first Formula E race in China since 2019.
Falling off the 16-race schedule are Cape Town, South Africa and Jakarta, Indonesia. Jakarta's race, originally pencilled in for June 8, is now off due to what Formula E officials say is due to the logistic challenges of holding a downtown street race during a month reserved for that country's presidential elections.
The lone question mark is the schedule is the April 13-14 weekend in Italy. The race was held in Rome in 2023, but Formula E officials have determined that the current Gen 3 cars have outgrown the street circuit in Rome. Alternative locations in the Italian market are being considered.
“Without doubt, our season 10 calendar is the most compelling yet for drivers, teams, fans and viewers around the world," said Alberto Longo, co-founder and CEO of Formula E. "We are taking Formula E to Shanghai for the first time and are honored to return to India thanks to the support of the Telangana Government and Minister K. T. Rama Rao.
"The combination of street circuits, which is in Formula E’s DNA, and established race tracks will allow drivers to push the capabilities of the GEN3 car harder and further after a first season that beat all expectations with triple-digit overtakes in most races and the world championship titles decided on the final weekend.”
