"It was a really emotional day": Iñaki Godoy Was Really Sad on One Particular Day of Shooting $138 Million Worth One Piece Live Action
Popular netflix series One Piece Live-Action's main actor Iñaki Godoy talks about his first and last day on the set of the series and how it became one of his most emotional days on set. Iñaki Godoy, the actor who played the series’ protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, was honored with the majority of the credit for the success of the show. He discussed his experience on the set of One Piece Live-Action and what his first and last day felt like. He stated that the more he played the character, the more it impacted him in a lot of ways and he pushed him to be the best version of himself. Despite already being Hinted Upon, Kuma’s Past in One Piece is more Tragic than expected.

The cast of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece deserves the majority of the credit for its success. They blended seamlessly into the characters they were portraying and brought them to life. Every member of the series contributed to the success of the plot, but the most appreciation belongs to Iñaki Godoy, the actor who played the series’ protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. His appearance and his acting in the role of Luffy were appreciated not only by fans but also by the creator Eiichiro Oda himself. He was successful in bringing one of the most famous anime characters to life.
In an interview with Netflix, Godoy talked about his experience on the set of One Piece Live-Action and what his first and last day felt like. He stated how he felt on the first day and what he thought he would miss after the last day.

Iñaki Godoy’s First Day on the Set of One Piece Live-Action
While talking to Stream Wars Godoy shared his experience on the set of One Piece Live-Action and how his first day felt like in Cape Town South Africa. The first scene they shot with him was the one where Luffy gets into Shell’s town and wants to steal a map of the Grand Line with Koby who wants to enlist in the Marines. He said:
“It was a very exciting day. It was also a day in which I was very nervous. I wanted to honor Luffy and One Piece and I knew it was a big responsibility. And I then just got here and there were like a bunch of Marines, this giant town that they just built for the show and I am just there with my straw hat and now it’s like well it’s time to be Luffy. The main thing for Luffy, at least for me, is that he always has fun. If I was able to have fun and enjoy shooting, then that would translate into my character.”
He stated how he was very nervous initially and how he felt the responsibility of the character of Luffy as it was probably the most important character of the series. He understood that Luffy always had fun and if he could enjoy the shooting it would translate into his character.

Iñaki Godoy’s Last Day on the Set of One Piece Live-Action
The last day of shooting for Godoy was the Kuro fight scene and it was incredibly emotional for him. He stated that he did a lot of his stunts and he got to enjoy them. He explained how before One Piece he had no experience in filming a stunt scene, but the One Piece live-action stunt team made it easy and helpful for him. He said:
“It was an emotional day in a lot of ways. I was excited about finishing this massive project but I was also really sad because I was going to miss my friends and most out of anything I was going to miss Luffy. On my first day of shooting, I was pretty nervous, and on my last day of shooting I was pretty nervous but I had it under control.”
He stated that the more he played the character, the more it impacted him in a lot of ways and Luffy pushed him to be the best version of himself.
